Advancing Australian public relations student’s understanding of professional practice in Indonesia

A group of 18 public relations students from the University of Newcastle will undertake a 2-week educational and professional development program in Indonesia. While they are there, the students will visit public relations firms in Indonesia, they will work on a real-world project for an Indonesia-based client, and they will attend public relations classes at the University of Brawijaya to learn how public relations is taught and practiced in this country. The result of the visit for students will be a heightened understanding of Indonesia and how public relations is practiced. The impact of the initiative for students will be improved educational outcomes and professional skills, and the development of professional and collegial relationships with Indonesian public relations students and academics, Indonesian public relations firms, and Indonesian public relations practitioners. The program will also further develop and strengthen a pre-existing partnership between both universities.
